Late Dr. K. N. Modi, a renowned industrialist, great visionary, dedicated philanthropist and a far sighted educationist, an embodiment of a true Indian, was born to Rai Bahadur Multani Mal Modi and Smt. Rukmani Devi This illustrious son of Mother India, Dr. K.N. Modi grew up to be the Chairman of Modi Enterprises, one of India’s largest industrial conglomerates. He also held eminent positions in the national business associations as well as apex bodies instituted by the government. Notable among these were the President of the Indian National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce, President of the FICCI and President, Indian Council of Arbitration. He was also appointed as Member, National Labor Advisory Council on Trade, Iron & Steel Advisory Council on Trade and Board of Technical Studies. Late Dr. K.N. Modi further represented the Government in joint ventures between India and France as well as the UK. He was also invited by the government to be the consultant on innumerable committees.
Most importantly, Late Dr. K.N.Modi complemented his exemplary business success with an inspiring commitment to serve the society. Even while in office, he undertook generous social service measures like providing houses for 8000 workers and initiating rural development projects in UP, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and MP.
Late Dr. K.N. Modi, who earned a name as a business tycoon, was instrumental in establishing many industrial towns in India of which Modinagar needs special mention as it was here that Dr. K.N. Modi and Smt. Ginni Modi kindled the light of higher education and research to provide professional and technical education which they perceived to be the key factor for social and economic development of the country. The seed for this noble cause was sown way back in 1942 with the establishment of a non-profit making organization – The DR. K.N. Modi Foundation. Through this organization the bold venture of performing service to society through a non-governmental education system was undertaken. Today under the aegis of Dr. K.N. Modi Foundation have blossomed 32 campuses illumining the dreams of over 36,000 students, the harbingers of a new modern India that will be a leader in the every field she treads.
